«Cup of the North» is called to promote in every possible way the development of creativity of young players, improvement of their professional skill, performing culture; discovering of new talented musicians, and also wide popularization of music for folk instruments. The jury consists of the greatest masters - performers and leading professors of musical higher education institutions of Russia, of the CIS and Abroad. The competition offers various nominations representing national musical instruments, which have received the status "academic" and become known in different countries of the world: the Russian bayan, balalaika and domra, the Belarus cymbals, the Italian mandoline.
